HOWARD LINDSAY and RUSSEL CROUSE in partnership, wrote books for The Sound of Music, Call Me Madam, Happy Hunting, Anything Goes and Red, Hot and Blue; and the plays Life with Father and The State of the Union (Pulitzer Prize). Producing credits include The Hasty Heart, Detective Story and Arsenic and Old Lace. Born in New York in 1889, Mr. Lindsay made his Broadway acting and directing debut in the Kaufman hit, Dulcy, and wrote and directed many plays before teaming up with Mr. Crouse. Mr. Crouse, born in Ohio in 1893, worked as a reporter for the Kansas City Star and gained his first renown in New York through a column in the Post. He wrote two musicals before collaborating with Mr. Lindsay. Mr. Crouse died in 1966; Mr. Lindsay in 1968.
