Happy Hunting
A strong-willed matriarch meets high society in Happy Hunting, a star vehicle that was originally written for the incomparable Ethel Merman. The book was written by the diehard Lindsay and Crouse (Anything Goes), and the original production was directed by the legendary Abe Burrows.
When Liz Livingstone – a rich, widowed Philadelphia hostess, at odds with the Main Line crowd – perceives a snub at the Grace Kelly-Prince Rainier "Wedding of the Year" in Monaco, she single-mindedly sets out to snare an even more impressively titled husband for her daughter. Things get predictably complicated when she succeeds... and then promptly falls for her intended son-in-law, herself! Meanwhile, the bride-to-be only has eyes for a society lawyer. Things really get interesting when Liz's dashing Duke turns out to be penniless.
Happy Hunting features a gag-filled book and a delectable score, including the Merman classic, "Mutual Admiration Society." In addition to the star role, this large cast gives opportunities to many female performers, including teenagers. Happy Hunting is a flamboyant, bubbly, lighthearted romp!
