Jeffrey Stock is the recipient of a 2001-02 Guggenheim Fellowship for music composition and the 2003 Jonathan Larson Musical Theater Foundation Award. He composed the music for the Tony-nominated Broadway musical TRIUMPH OF LOVE, starring Betty Buckley, F. Murray Abraham and Susan Egan, named by USA Today as the best new musical of 1997-98. Original Broadway Cast album released by Jay Records. In 1998 he composed LULIE THE ICEBERG, a symphonic and choral narrative based on a story by HIH Princess Takamado of Japan. LULIE was premiered at Carnegie Hall by the Orchestra of St. Luke's, featuring soloists Yo-Yo Ma, Pamela Frank and Paul Winter, and narrated by Sam Waterston. Recording released by Sony Classical. In 1995 he wrote the music and libretto for THE VOICE OF TEMPERANCE, a musical theater piece based on Prohibition texts, commissioned by the New York Shakespeare Festival and workshopped at the Public Theater. He received a 1994 National Endowment for the Arts grant to write the score and libretto for a new opera.
