Beauty is in the eye of the ogre in Shrek Camp Broadway Edition, based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and fantastic Broadway musical. It’s a “big bright beautiful world” as everyone’s favorite ogre, Shrek, leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. This ensemble driven adaptation is full of fairy tale twists and turns with a powerful message for the whole family.

Once upon a time, in a far away swamp, there lived and ogre named Shrek. One day, he finds his swamp invaded by banished fairytale misfits who have been cast off by Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions. Determined to reclaim his swamp, Shrek confronts Farquaad, who strikes a bargain. If Shrek rescues Princess Fiona from her dragon guarded tower, his swamp will be restored.

Reluctantly, Shrek sets out and soon frees the strong-willed Fiona. As fairytale characters and storytellers cross their path as the tale unfolds, Shrek and Fiona begin to challenge each other’s assumptions about love, identity, and what it truly means to belong. In the end they discover that happily ever after may look very different than what they expected.

Shrek Camp Broadway Edition highlights two featured characters, Shrek and Fiona, and two featured ensemble groups, the Storytellers and the Fairytale Characters, with cameo appearance by another recognizable character from the show, Lord Farquadd. The ensemble groups can be customized to any size with plenty of lines for all cast members to be featured! You’ll also be introduced to George and Gigi Amsterdam, two important characters who introduce the audience to the world of the show and close the showcase with extra charm. It’s the perfect ensemble experience for kids of all levels!
