At the beginning of the month, we started March Madness: Sondheim Edition with 64 of Sondheim's juiciest characters. Separated into 8 categories, almost all MTI Sondheim titles were represented, from Saturday Night to Sunday in the Park with George. Over the past month, these characters faced off in ruthless rounds where you had the "agony" of deciding who got to "move on."
At first, Into the Woods's Milky White appeared to be a fan favorite but was ultimately knocked out by Sweeney Todd's Beggar Woman. We had to send in the clowns for Night Music's Desirée Armfeldt, who was no match in a rumble against West Side Story's Anita. In the end, The Baker's Wife left Cinderella behind on the steps of the palace while Sweeney Todd's road to revenge came to a halt against the Witch.
The two iconic Into the Woods characters, the Witch and The Baker's Wife, had a final showdown and, thanks to your votes, we have a winner!
