Symphonic Orchestral Version
An orchestra and narrator bring Dr. Seuss’s tale about tolerance, diversity and compromise vividly to life in this symphonic poem.
A symphonic poem for an orchestra and narrator. This is not a full length musical.

Dr. Seuss's The Sneetches is a symphonic poem created for performance by a narrator and symphony orchestra, sure to delight audiences of all ages. Based on the beloved children's book about the perils of bigotry, The Sneetches features an original and brilliant score by renowned composer, Lorenzo Palomo.

Our Narrator tells the story of the Sneetches – a group of intelligent yellow birds whose physical appearance dictates their place in society. The star-bellied Sneetches are popular, while the plain-bellied Sneetches are shunned. The narrator continues the tale - a stranger arrives looking to exploit these differences for his own selfish gain, promising he can remove or add a star to the stomach of a Sneetch with the help of a special machine. After taking the Sneetches for all they are worth, the stranger packs up and leaves. The Sneetches realize they have been duped, but discover that their differences are what makes them each special in their own way.

With a strong anti-bullying message, The Sneetches can be paired with another work Dr. Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat to create a magical, feel-good performance, bringing the whole family together.

Now, the Star-Belly Sneetches

But, Because They had Stars

When the Star-Belly Children

When the Star-Belly Sneetches

Then One Day, It Seems

Just Pay Me Your Money

When the Plain-Belly Sneetches

Then Up Came McBean

Then, with Snoots in the Air

Then, Of Course, Those with Stars

Then, When Every Last Cent

But McBean Was Quite Wrong
