Bust a move and shake your groove thing with the folks of SnapHappy, Ohio, as they fight the power against the dreaded “dance tax.”
Available in the U.S. and Canada Only

You’ll be dancing in the streets with this brand new musical created just for student performers about the power of working together and fighting for what's right. Do You Wanna Dance? One-Act Edition, features all of your favorite songs from past decades combined with an uplifting and inspiring story.

Singing and dancing is what draws everyone to the town of SnapHappy, Ohio, in May of 1995 to meet Mayor Pete’s new wife, Mona Lightfoot. But after she literally pulls the plug on the May Day celebration, the politics of dancing start to take the snap out of happy. Delaney, Chad, Lucas, Emma and all of the SnapHappy kids are shocked when they hear that a new “dance tax” has been levied on anyone who dances in town. While their “boogie down” parents try to cope with the new tax, all of the kids come together and take a stand.

Do You Wanna Dance? One-Act Edition is the perfect musical for schools that are new to musical theatre. The One-Act Edition makes performing this guaranteed crowd-pleaser easier than ever!

One-Act made Easy!

Bridging the gap between MTI's Broadway Junior musicals and a full two-act show, MTI's One-Act Edition makes producing a musical easy and fun!

Similar to our Broadway Junior model, accredited schools K-9 pay a flat fee of $695.00 and the license lets you perform the show as many times as you like for up to one year.

Non-accredited schools may also license the show by paying standard materials and royalty fees, but there is no age limit for your performers.

The materials (which are yours to keep regardless of your organization type), consist of 30 Libretto/Vocal Books (script and songs for the actors), a Piano/Vocal Score, an Accompaniment Recording that features the back-up tracks to use in performance, and a Reference Recording that contains the full score performed by an ensemble of actors to help your cast prepare for the show.
