(Two BUSHES fall down. Nothing. SHERE KHAN pounces again.)

(Two TREES fall down. Nothing.)

(The JUNGLE remains silent, still trembling.)

He can't hide forever, you know. And rest assured, man-cub, I'll find you, wherever you are ...

(SHERE KHAN exits. BALOO and BAGHEERA enter from the opposite direction and put the sleepy MOWGLI down for a nap.)

Hmm. To think he was here in the jungle all along. And no one said anything!!! Your friends are very loyal, little man-cub.

Run, Mowgli, run!

(MOWGLI remains next to SHERE KHAN.)

You don't scare me. I don't run from anyone.

(BALOO enters, quietly.)

Ah, you have spirit for one so small. I'm going to close my eyes and count to ten. It makes the chase more interesting for me ... One ... two ...

(As SHERE KHAN counts, MOWGLI runs to BALOO.)
