How many performances of Honk! Jr. are recommended for a small town children's theater?
How many performances of Honk! Jr. are recommended for a small town children's theater? I am currently contracted w/ MTI for two shows but now have parents questioning why we aren't doing more. Just wondering what the statistics bear for a relatively unknown show such as Honk! Jr. Thanks

Many Male Leads, good sized orchestra- not pop.
Hi everyone- I am looking for suggestions on a show within the following parameters and would appreciate suggestions:- We have at least 4-6 very well trained male singers, and maybe 4 really good female singers.- We are looking for a large cast, and medium to large orchestra. The orchestra is a very advanced group of high school kids.- not really seeking a rock show unless it has a large orchestra.- minimal to no dancing.- we were thinking les Mis but rights are not avail. So far we are liking Into The Woods- but I would love other suggestions.

Difficulty of Shows
Hello, I am a director/Producer of the childrens theater program at a community theater. Over the last few years our program has grown significantly. We started a few years ago doing a non mti veruions of Pinnochio with 12 children and last year did Little Mermaid Jr with 50. We are thinking about beauty and the beast jr this year, but are expecting a extreamly large turnout. Going forward, we are toying with the idea of breaking our program into two separate shows, like 6-12 and 12-18. I know I saw on here before a post about which shows are more difficult and what would be better for young kids. Do you have a breakdown?

Shrek the Musical Casting
Hello,My community theater group is considering Shrek for our summer 2014 musical. I am putting together a proposal, and was wondering if anyone who has already done it could share how they did casting with the ensemble. I am trying to make heads or tails about what roles can be double cast and what works well with costume changes etc. Thanks!

Which show to choose?
Hello, My elementary school has done two MTI shows-Jungle Book and Wonka KIDS version. Because our school is small, we offer it to a wider level age group-from 3rd to 8th. I'm interested in challenging our kids by doing a JR. show, but I'd like to ask which one you can recommend that has a medium level of difficultly- musically and length of script. For example, I perused the Alice JR script last year and believed it to be too difficult musically, albeit the music was very cool! Any suggestions you have would be appreciated. Thank you and hope to hear from you!

Licensing a Junior show for a school
If my school buys a junior show kit with all the necessary materials and license and perform it in 2013, can we order the license for the same show separately five years down the road if we still have all the necessary materials that we need to be able to perform that show? We are looking on purchasing many shows and rotating them on a yearly basis.

Willy Wonka with 10-15 cast members?
I run a children's theatre company which offers after-school classes, and 1 show a year. I've had a surprisingly low turnout for this year's show, which we were planning on being Willy Wonka. We enroll kids and guarantee every kid a part, so we start off doing audition prep and generally hold auditions 3-4 weeks into "rehearsal". I didn't purchase the show rights yet because I always want to wait to make sure the class will "make" before putting out the money. At this point I have 10-12 kids signed up. Can I do Willy Wonka with that few kids?
Answer this Question
Willy Wonka Jr. VS Alice in Wonderland Jr.
Hello! I am a Drama Club Advisor of an elementary school in NJ. I am so torn over which show to choose, so if anyone out there is willing to advise me, here is what you may need to know to form an opinion:* My Drama Club is only made up of 5th and 6th graders. Enrollment is generally between 80-90 students. Last year's production had a total of 92 kids.* The program is rapidly growing, and since our first Jr. musical five years ago, the quality has improved, the interest has grown, and we are now very "noticed" by administrators. The pinnacle of what we have accomplished was last year's production of The Little Mermaid, Jr. I want to live up to that pressure.* I always hated when teachers or directors chose a show with a certain person in mind for a certain role, but I can't hide the fact that I have an incoming 6th grader who is PHENOMENAL. When I say she will most likely sing on Broadway one day, I mean it sincerely. She was my Ariel last year, and I would love to feature her, as this will be her last year in my Drama Club.* Finally, my participation from the boys is always unknown. Over the past two years, I was able to do Seuss Jr. and Mermaid Jr. so successfully because of the boys I had for male leads. I may get a good number of boys this year, but I'm not quite sure about the amount of boys who will be able to carry a show or even successfully do a lead role.ANY help, advice, opinions, information you can give me would be so very much appreciated. Thank you in advance! :)
