With the 67th Annual Tony Awards quickly approaching, this morning's nomination list was an eagerly awaited thrill ride to kick start the remaining 40 days leading up to the big night.  MTI is delighted to see so many titles and authors from our catalogue receiving nominations for their fantastic musicals on Broadway this past year.

PIPPIN (BEST REVIVAL AND 9 OTHERS) received a total of 10 nominations for its production including Best Revival of a Musical, Best Direction of a Musical, Best Choreography, nominations for Patina Miller, Terrence Mann and Andrea Martin as well as the entire design team.  PIPPIN features the score of MTI author Stephen Schwartz, book by Roger Hirson, choreography in the style of Bob Fosse and acrobatics by Les 7 Doights de la Main.

BRING IT ON: THE MUSICAL (BEST MUSICAL, BEST CHOREOGRAPHY) features a vibrant new pop and hip-hop influenced score by by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tom Kitt and Amanda Green and book by Jeff Whitty.  The musical premiered in Atlanta, GA in January 2011 before a national tour prior to opening for a limited engagement on Broadway on August 1, 2012.

ANNIE (BEST REVIVAL) the beloved musical by Charles Strouse, Martin Charnin and Thomas Meehan continues to delight audiences young and old alike... as well as the TONY Nomination Committee.

Other MTI authors who were nominated for their work today are Benj Pasek and Justin Paul for their new musical A Christmas Story, Harvey Fierstein for his work on Kinky Boots, and Amanda Green for her work on Hands on a Hard Body.
