SISTER ACT question
The question you're answering.
I know traditionally an African American plays the role of Deloris. Would love to do this show - but is it possible to cast a Caucasian as the lead in SISTER ACT? Is race an important part of story?

Hi Maggie! It’s fine to cast it with any ethnicity. There are only a few lines that refer explicitly to race. Feel free to put your concerns/lines in question to your MTI rep in writing, and they will be happy to address them.
There are way too many jokes that refer to her race to do this differently, in my opinion.
The role of Dolores can be played by any ethnicity. This character needs to be portrayed as an “outsider” to tell the story. Do a little homework, research the script and send in any changes for approval. This may be a good choice for you!
