You certainly can! The gender in the character descriptions on our site refers to the gender of the character, not the actor. As long as lyrics and dialogue are not changed, this is fine. If your school does wish to make changes to the show itself for your production, they must submit the proposed changes to their licensing representative for approval. Break a leg!
